Ethics & Professional Conduct for Auctioneers

In this course, participants will learn the definition of ethics and the importance of ethical behavior. The course will provide an overview of a national auctioneer code of ethics, and will discuss current issues relating to the conduct of auctions and the erosion of public trust. These issues include who is bidding, misrepresentations, improper conduct of absolute auctions, improperly reopening the bidding, improper withdrawal of property, inappropriate conduct of ring personnel, unprofessional conduct in real estate auctions, and professional competency issues. Related information from state statutes and laws will also be addressed. Participants will learn to recognize unethical and unprofessional conduct through analyzing various case studies.
