What information does Novalis collect?

We collect information from our users at several different points on our Web site. We collect basic information that does not identify individual users such as pages visited, types of courses viewed, and viewer feedback. When you enroll in courses, we collect personal information such as your first and last name, street or mailing address, email address, phone number(s), professional license number(s), credit card account number, credit card billing address, social security number (only if and where required by state licensing agencies), and unique identifiers such as user name and password. If you enroll in an online course, we also collect simple personal information for security questions to verify your identity when taking the course. Novalis is the sole owner of the information collected on our Web site.

How is this information used?

At Novalis, your privacy is extremely important to us. We use the information we collect to ensure that transactions are performed in the most efficient manner possible. More specifically, we use the personal information that your provide to process your order, confirm course completion, for internal statistical purposes, and to contact you should we have any questions or concerns about your order or the course-taking process. We also use it to ensure that the user receives appropriate credit with state licensing agencies when continuing education courses are successfully completed. Financial information that you provide is used to process your order and for billing purposes.

We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete your order, and we never share the personally identifiable information that you provided us in ways that are unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such uses. Novalis does not offer, or allow the selling of, any user-provided information to third parties. We take your trust seriously, so rest assured that the only messages you receive will be directly from us.

From time to time, we may use the information we collect to notify you about important functionality changes to our Web site, new services or courses, or special offers that you may find valuable. On an occasional basis, we may also send you our newsletter related to your specific profession. Each e-mail message we send has a clearly-identified link to allow you to opt-out of receiving further e-mails, and all opt-out requests are handled in a timely manner.

How does Novalis protect the information it collects?

We use the latest encryption technology in order to keep your personal information secure. When users are asked to provide sensitive information via the Web site, the information is encrypted and transmitted via a secure server so it cannot be read as it travels over the internet. The servers that store personally-identifiable information are located in a secure environment. Credit card transactions are handled by a third party financial institution, which receives the credit card information and other personal information only to verify credit card numbers and process transactions.

We also protect personally-identifiable information offline. All such information is restricted to our offices and only employees who need this information to perform a specific task or job are granted access to it.

While we make every effort to preserve the privacy of our users, we may be required to disclose personal information when required by law where we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary in order to respond to a subpoena, court order, or legal process.
